This website helped me get a better understanding of what Emile Bayard paintings looks like and how he expresses what he puts on paper. It showed me to understand that you have to take your time while you do your art work and what you do reflects on how it looks. So to become a proffessional artist you ave to be willing to take the time to get to the top and feel what artist feel.

Pigments

Pigments are chemical compounds which reflect only certain wavelengths of visible light. This makes them appear "colorful". Flowers, corals, and even animal skin contain pigments which give them their colors. More important than their reflection of light is the ability of pigments to absorb certain wavelengths.

Emile Bayard

Emile Bayard was born in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre in 1837. He began publishing cartoons in newspapers at the age of 15,using the name Abel de Miray. As an illustator, he never used photographic documents and always tried to have a meeting with the author. He died in Cairo in 1891.

Industrial Revolution

How did the Industrial Revolution effect painting and painters? "Well, other things, it brought a new clientele to the painting market and a new awareness of the daily lives of those who now, thanks to the machine age, could afford the time and money to collect art. Artists like Gustave Courbet devoted a lifetime to portraying these people, and in so doing opened up a new avenue of subject matter, portraying peasants, workers, merchants, and other contemporary individuals in a serious spirit."
