Atomic Bomb Debate
This week we had an Atomic Bomb Debate. We were Promt A Negative. We were against dropping the Atomic Bomb on Japan. I found our topic very interesting actually because it was different from all the others I felt as if everyone could relate to this. Were the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki necessary to save allied lives and to end Japan's threat to world peace? On August 1945, the first dropping of atomic bombs in areas of Japan killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Suddenly following those bombings, Japan surrendered to the United States. As the war started to come to an end with Germany, the US had a lot on their hands with a big effective war with Japan. The defeat became much important to many allied and Japanese leaders. From November 1944 to the dropping of the atomic bomb, Japan was subjected to numerous B-29 bomb raids using conventional bombs. General Curtis Le May predicted the war to end in September or October of 1945 because the United States would have run out of industrial targets to destroy. While Japan was being severely bombed, there was also a naval blockade to stop Japan's ability to import such necessities as oil and vital materials. This was a very strong topic because they had no right to bomb Japan, all of those innocent people and their cities. It was no reason for that to happen they were asking for trouble in which not should happen they said they gave a warning but i dont think that was good enough and no i dont think they should of bombed their cities.
