Chem/Art
During the whole art project we have been making color pigments including black and white in Chemistry class. This week we have made colors like lead yellow, rust red, and black. Before we have made blue and white. A pigment that wasnt so hard to create was red because all we used was steel wool, and vinegar, it was very simple and easy to create. The most hardest that we have worked with creating by ourselves is yellow because it is very strong. It was very hard to work with because you had to be very careful and make sure it would not spill on you cause of how toxic it was. I was really excited to know that we were going to be creating our own pigments because it was something new and that i had never tried.I thought that the most exciting pigment to make was black because it was a different reaction than all the others, for example we did outside and when we put the acid it rose like a marshmello and then after a while it turned into a hard solid. One thing that I did not like was that we had to write down the procedure , observations, balance any chemical equations that were needed, and find the moles of certain formulas with certain kinds of grams. But i really liked how we got the chance to do something like this.
